St Mary's is Open
The congregation of St Mary's is supported by Common Ground Guildford in welcoming people to this sacred space to reflect, to find a listening ear, and also enjoy creative arts exhibitions and more.
There is currently building work taking place at St Mary's and, with Coronavirus restrictions also in place, the building work continues although there is no public access for visits nor are services and events taking place. More information is expected to be available in May about when the church will re-open for visits. Below is a flavour of what usually takes place during the year.
St Mary’s is usually open between 1100 and 1500 every Thursday and on Farmers Market Tuesdays (usually the first Tuesday of the month) for anyone to drop in to explore the building, to pray or just to escape for some quiet. There is also coffee and an opportunity to chat.
We’re working to be open more and open in August, before Easter and for special times of prayer such as at New Year. We have extended openings for art exhibitions and at times such as the annual Heritage Weekend in early September.
Is our new initiative which launched in September 2017. This is usually on the third Friday in the month fron 2000 to 2300. Each event is different. Drop in for five minutes, thirty or more. Calm, candles, conversation (if wanted), and eclectic music. Always something to make you think. Each monthly event is different. See Night Vision for more information. Whilst Coronavirus restrictions are in place we hope to provide something different!
St Mary's hosts a regular programme of Creative Arts displays and events.
